Since it was Ollie’s 7th birthday a few weeks ago it was on our mind for a while, ‘what do we get a spoilt sausage dog that has everything?’ Yes it is a problem! (All be it a third world problem!) Well we done a bit of research on what to get him, ie a google search ; then it occured to us a little ‘gift guide’ for everyone is obviously due for the website!

The first on our list is this fabulous ergonomic JED Ball by Otis & Claude! This one is still on Ollie’s wishlist as it’s from the US. But we had to include this on our list as it has many great features that will keep your dog entertained – hopefully for hours! It’s made from rubber and felt, plus the ‘funny’ shaped handle gives playing fetch a new twist – literally, with a fun and erratic bounce!
Zogoflex toys , designed by West Paw Design are made completely from 100% recycled materials! There are a number of different designs available, from balls and frisbess to treat dispensing puzzles! ‘Bumi’ – the one picture above is quite the versatile toy! You can use it as a frisbee, a tug toy and play fetch with it! It also floats on water as well as stretching to double its length! As dachshund fur-parents we know there is nothing that is ‘indestructible’, but these come pretty close! So much so the manufacturer guarantees it against destruction!! A definite must-have!
Are these not the cutest dog toys ever? These Starbarks Frenchie Roast toys are from the American brand Haute Diggity Dog and come in a number of popular flavours, like Spiced Pumpkin Latte above! These are perfect for the coffee loving furparent (…who visits a certain coffee chain rather frequently!) and their style conscious pooch! They have a squeaker inside and come in two sizes!

Number four on our list is a new innovative toy to the Irish & worldwide market. K9 Connectables are designed in Ireland and are making a lot of noise all around the globe. We’ve had the pleasure of testing these out over Christmas. You can read our review of them here, but since then we’ve used these every day with Ollie & Penny – so it’s definitely a must-have product in our household!! There are three different designs at the moment: the dentist, the orignal and the tech bone, all of which inter-connect with each other!
So here we have something that we think is going to be very popular in the next few years – the Pebby Smart Ball! The Pebby smart ball is actually a ball & collar system that allows you to play & interact with your dog from anywhere in the world. The ball is controled via your smart phone, wifi & bluetooth, through which you can monitor you pets activity, talk to them and them to you as well as obviously view them!
Here comes the bad news – and no it’s not the price, because yes they are expensive-ish, but the bad news is that they are currently only in production stages after a succesful Kickstarter campaign. Find out more about Pebby below! We’ll definitely be keeping a eye & paw on them!
Rosewood Pet’s BioSafe Watermelon toy is at number 6! We’re sure most fur-parents have seen these in stores, maybe you have one! We do! As well as the banana, strawberries and lemon! We’re giving them eight big paws up for many reasons! They are coated in an antimicrobial layer (…yes, i know very technical!) that helps prevent growth of bacteria, mould and fungi. This inturn improves hygiene in your dogs toys! Very smart. Out of all the varieties available we chose the watermelon, as it can also be filled with water and frozen for those hot sunny days – as we’re having as we type this!
The Foobler Treat Ball, now by the Company of Animals group is a product that we’ve followed from the beginninng. It was also, like the ‘Pebby’ above started via funding on Kickstarter and then bought by the Company of Animals. It’s an electronic ball with 6 compartments inside for treats. It releases these treats with a small beep every 15, 30, 60 or 90 minutes – depending on your selection. The beep alerts your pooch that treats are available (…take a look here on Youtube!) and it’s time to play to get them out! A great toy to keep your pooch active throughout the day without them getting all the treats in one go!
Say hello to the newest Ruffle Snuffle – Scout! We just love these colours! Ruffle Snuffle mats have been going for a while now and they are one of our top picks! Not only are they great at slowing down fast eaters but they also function as a great hide ‘n’ treat game too! Ollie & Penny are old hands at this Ruffle Snuffle marlarkey and just love theirs – we reviewed them a while ago here!
Here we have want we deem a classic. Chuckit! Ultra Balls & the Ultra Tug! We’ve spoken about these before but we couldn’t have a list without them. Yes they’ve been out for a long time – but that’s what makes them a classic! Both products are durable being made from strong rubber and nylon, they floats on water and travel a lot further for fetch games! Ollie & Penny only use these now on walks for playing – they’ve had the same pair for years – visit their instagram to see many photos! Go get your pooch one now!
The Odin by Up Dog Toys is another Kickstarter funded project. It’s a treat dispensing dog toy but this time with a lovely unique modern modular design! It’s a simple idea – pop your dogs treats into the flaps at the top and watch them toss it about erraticly trying to get the treats out! You can also connect to another Odin to increase the difficulty! It comes in 3 colours – slate grey, pink and mint! We love the simple elegant design of these and can see them fitting in easily to the more ‘minimal’ fur-parents abode.
That’s your lot! We do hope you loved all our selections! We spent a lot of time researching & testing out some of these – well Ollie & Penny did! We also have to give a quick honorary mention to the classic Kong. It’s not on our list because we’re assuming by now every fur-parent knows about them and should have a least one in their possession…Ollie & Penny have about 10!!! Until next time….
